Scientists extract images directly from brain

found on DoseNation

Is the future awesome or what?

"Researchers from Japan’s ATR Computational Neuroscience Laboratories have developed new brain analysis technology that can reconstruct the images inside a person’s mind and display them on a computer monitor, it was announced on December 11. According to the researchers, further development of the technology may soon make it possible to view other people’s dreams while they sleep.

The World Game

ANOTHER GREAT BRAINSTURBATOR ARTICLE:

"Bucky Fuller & his World Game: Intro to Saving Planets"

From the introduction to a World Game activity book:
“Now, for the first time in the history of man, all the political theories and all the concepts of political functions are completely obsolete. All of them were developed on the you-or-me basis. This whole realization that mankind can and may be comprehensively successful is startling.”

By comprehensively successful, R. Buckminster Fuller meant that every human being could live in abundance. This idea gets dismissed even today as Utopian bullshit, but I’d like to frame this with a few short, simple questions:

1. Can the quality of life on Earth be improved?

2. Will everyone benefit from those improvements?

3. Is that worth spending time on?

R. Gordon Wasson audio recording of Maria Sabina

These Mp3 audio files were made from the nearly impossible to find "Mushroom Ceremony Of the Mazatec Indians Of Mexico" record. This recording was made by R. Gordon Wasson in 1956, in an attempt to chronicle a religious ceremony involving the investigation of psychedelic mushrooms by Indians who are attempting to communicate with the Divine Spirit. Lots of wild, hallucinatory chanting and the like, which might even appeal to fans of phonetic sound poems or dadaist utterings. Another unusual historical document that only Folkways would have released.

"Here is a shamanic performance complete. Gordon Wasson, a pioneer in the study of the role of mushrooms in religious ritual, gives us a transcription of an authentic "consultation" of the sacred mushroom, in sound. The occasion was the illness of a youth. The mushroom, through the mouth of Maria Sabina, a female shaman, decreed that the boy must die. He heard the bad news and died days later. Gordon Wasson taped the entire Velada. Wasson is able to prove that the words and undoubtedly the chant are pre-Cortes, going back for many centuries. Nothing like this record has been done for the new world; it is rivaled in the old world only by the Vedic chants of India".

The beginning of the Sixth Day in the Mayan Calendar

"The Fifth night of the Mayan Calendar which was ruled by the energy of Tezcatlipoca, the god of darkness, temptation and war has just passed. Now the Sixth Day of the Galactic Underworld begins [November 12, 2008] with Yohualticitl, the goddess of birth. This period is the renaissance of each cycle and this time lasts until November 2009. It is the time in which the flower blossoms. Look within to propagate your flower. Grow spiritually and remain centered. Stay true to your self, stay connected to community and the environment. Practice reciprocity and random acts of kindness for balance and connection.
This is all very representative of our nations events over the past decade. So this ancient knowledge is very relevant to us today. During this transition, things may very well become even more chaotic, before they improve. However remember to keep focused the big picture and do your best to spread and maintain the positive energy that the world needs so greatly right now.

The last Sixth “Day” was the time of Beatniks, Flower Children, mass spiritual transformation, orbital satellites and global communication systems, or distilled down to its essence, profound change.

The Sixth “Day” of the last cycle was the beginning of the European Renaissance. "

Crazy Christians Pray to False Idols To Save Economy

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
From Wonkette

"Did you know that some Christian dingbat has dubbed today the “Day of Prayer for the World’s Economies?”
Well here they are, at the Wall Street bull statue, praying to Jesus for money.
The dingbat has explained, “We are going to intercede at the site of the statue of the bull on Wall Street to ask God to begin a shift from the bull and bear markets to what we feel will be the ‘Lion’s Market,’ or God’s control over the economic systems.”
Don’t they know that God taking over the economic systems would be SOCIALISM from SPACE?
Also: God will be very mad that they are worshiping a bronze idol here, since his second commandment PROHIBITS THAT.

A bunch of Christian nuts praying over a false bronze idol, the Wall Street Bull asking God to nationalize the economy under the state of heaven so that they could pay for their porn subscriptions for another year. "

The Grand Canyon's Grand Secret

Egyptian Treasures in the Grand Canyon:
Image and video hosting by TinyPic

The April 5, 1909 edition of the Arizona Gazette featured an article entitled “Explorations in Grand Canyon: Remarkable finds indicate ancient people migrated from Orient.” According to the article, the expedition was financed by the Smithsonian Institute and discovered artifacts that would, if verified, stand conventional history on its ear. Inside a cavern “hewn in solid rock by human hands” were found tablets bearing hieroglyphics, copper weapons and tools, statues of Egyptian deities and mummies. Although highly intriguing, the truth of this story is in doubt simply because the site has never been re-found. The Smithsonian disavows all knowledge of the discovery, and several expeditions searching for the cavern have come up empty-handed. Was the article just a hoax?
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
“While it cannot be discounted that the entire story is an elaborate newspaper hoax,” writes researcher/explorer David Hatcher Childress, “the fact that it was on the front page, named the prestigious Smithsonian Institution, and gave a highly detailed story that went on for several pages, lends a great deal to its credibility. It is hard to believe such a story could have come out of thin air.” Supporters also claim that the restricted areas (of which even workers at the Canyon can't enter) are evidence of the cover-up.

The best way to describe the situation is to allow it to describe itself. Here is the unabridged article just as it appeared in the Phoenix Gazette on April 5, 1909:

Hindu Milk Drinking Statues

Photobucket

Eyewitnesses in India began reporting accounts of statues in India drinking milk. The stock market and the federal government closed down in India so that people could feed the statues. This also continued with other statues around the world. This was only Indian statues. Within 72 hours Hindu statues around the world were consuming milk by the liter. Some of the countries were Canada, Hong Kong, Indonesia and England. There has been no explanation as of yet but some people feel it was a miracle.
Television, radio and newspapers eagerly covered this unique phenomenon, and even skeptical journalists held their milk-filled spoons to the gods - and watched, humbled, as the milk disappeared. The media coverage was extensive, and although scientists and 'experts' created theories of "capillary absorption" and "mass hysteria", the overwhelming evidence and conclusion was that an unexplainable miracle had occurred.

Photobucket

By noon the news had spread beyond India, and Hindu temples in Britain, Canada, Dubai, and Nepal among other countries had successfully replicated the phenomenon, and the World Hindu Council (an Indian Hindu organization) had announced that a miracle was occurring. The apparent miracle had a significant effect on the areas around major temples; vehicle and pedestrian traffic in New Delhi was dense enough to create a gridlock lasting until late in the evening. Many stores in areas with significant Hindu communities saw a massive jump in sales of milk, with one Gateway store in England selling over 25,000 pints of milk, and overall milk sales in New Delhi jumped over 30%. Many minor temples struggled to deal with the vast increase in numbers, and queues spilled out into the streets.

The Mysterious Disappearance of Frederick Valentich

Photobucket

The Frederick Valentich Disappearance is an event that occurred on October 21, 1978, in which 20-year-old Frederick Valentich disappeared in unexplained circumstances while piloting a Cessna 182L light aircraft over the Bass Strait to King Island, Australia. Prior to his disappearance, Valentich reported via radio that he had encountered an unidentified craft which was moving at the same speed of his plane, and which hovered over him. No trace of Valentich or his aircraft was ever found. Shortly before Valentich’s last reported contact, plumber Roy Manifold set up a time lapse camera and tripod on the shoreline in order to photograph the sun setting over the water. When his pictures were developed they appeared to show a fast moving object exiting the water. Manifold gave the time that the pictures were taken as being approximately 6:47 pm (18:47 hrs), or 20 minutes before Valentich reported having difficulties.

Moments before a strange noise terminated Valentich’s communications, he said: “My intentions are - ah - to go to King Island - ah - Melbourne. That strange aircraft is hovering on top of me again (open microphone for two seconds). It is hovering and it’s not an aircraft.”

Programmable Cells: Engineer Turns Bacteria Into Living Computers

Programmable Cells

ScienceDaily (Apr. 28, 2005) — In a step toward making living cells function as if they were tiny computers, engineers at Princeton have programmed bacteria to communicate with each other and produce color-coded patterns.

Heres another article on creating a living computer
"US researchers have created ‘living computers’ by genetically altering bacteria. The findings of the research, published in BioMed Central’s open access Journal of Biological Engineering, demonstrate that computing in living cells is feasible, opening the door to a number of applications including data storage and as a tool for manipulating genes for genetic engineering. 125 Shot Dead In Chicago Over Summer
Total Is About Double The U.S. Troop Death Toll In Iraq

"CHICAGO (CBS) ― An estimated 125 people were shot and killed over the summer. That's nearly double the number of U.S. soldiers killed in Iraq over the same time period.

In May, cbs2chicago.com began tracking city shootings and posting them on Google maps. Information compiled from our reporters, wire service reports and the Chicago Police Major Incidents log indicated that 125 people were shot and killed throughout the city between the start of Memorial Day weekend on May 26, and the end of Labor Day on Sept. 1.

According to the Defense Department, 65 U.S. soldiers were killed in combat in Iraq. About the same number were killed in Afghanistan over that same period.

In the same time period, an estimated 247 people were shot and wounded in the city."

Laptops can be confiscated and searched at US border without cause

Hide your porn and terrorist activies

"In further evidence of our rapidly eroding civil liberties, the Department of Homeland Security disclosed today that US Customs and Border Protection and US Immigration and Customs Enforcement have the right to confiscate and search a traveler's laptop or other electronic device without any suspicion of wrongdoing. The rules allow for searches of hard drives, flash drives, cellphones, iPods, pagers, and video or audio tapes, and specify that the agencies can "detain" belongings for a "reasonable period of time," (i.e., as long as they please). Additionally, the DHS can share the data found with other government agencies or private entities for translation, decryption, or (astoundingly vague) "other reasons." The DHS says the policies apply to anyone entering the country -- including US citizens -- and claim the measures are necessary to prevent terrorism. In other news, Big Brother issued a statement today guaranteeing a bonus for turning over family members suspected of crimethink to the Thought Police."

Law has proclaimed every living thing illegal… literally.
http://teleomorph.com/

DMT, “the spirit molecule,” has been shown to be part of the biochemical make-up of tens of thousands of organisms, from plants to reptiles and mammals. Current evidence points to the conclusion that it is a constituent of every plant & animal. DMT is everywhere. DMT also provides the most profound and curious psychedelic experience available when taken from an outside source. Theories as to why it is made in human bodies strongly suggest a relation with dream-states and possibly physical transition states such as birth and death. It is also involved in spontaneous mystical states and percieved phenomena such as ‘the third eye.’ DMT is illegal (schedule 1) and only one scientist has been allowed to even look at it’s effetcs in the past 40 years. …What is wrong with this picture?

The following video is interesting because it is a point of view from someone who has never experimented with DMT (other than the fact we are all already on it, so to speak). So while there are erroneous conclusions at least he isn’t weighed down with the rhapsodic impulse to language the mystery for the world that so many of the intiated have betokened.

Dr. Timothy Leary: Think for Yourself and Question Authority

From: The Psychedelic Salon : http://feeds.feedburner.com/PsychedelicSalon : http://matrixmasters.net/archive/TimothyLeary/152-LearyFtWorth1987.mp3

I found it @ DoseNation

PROGRAM NOTES:

NOTE: All quotations below are by Dr. Timothy Leary.

"When I say think for yourself, I don’t mean think selfishly for yourself. I mean think independently."

"If you’re going to think for yourself, you gotta learn to think clearly."

"The person who thinks for herself or himself has to have a sense of humility, and of modesty, and of relativity because you have to realize that I’m thinking for myself, but hopefully you are too, and you’re bound to come out with something a little different from me. So there has to be an ability to listen, compassion, plus the modesty. No matter how smart we are there’s a lot we aren’t going to be able to figure out tonight."

"I’m glad we’re laughing together because that’s a key. A sense of humor is the key. … That ability to laugh together certainly goes along with the ability to think together."

"Any time you introduce a new technology of thought processing, or of thought communication, you change everything else."

[Speaking about the biblical Eve] "I’m really pleased that the first member of my species was a woman who had the courage to stand up on her feet and think for herself."

"The idea that any human being should be forced by economics, forced to do work that can be done better by a machine or a computer is totally humiliating to any concept of our human dignity and worth."

"Now in the Industrial Age, a good person was someone who was prompt, reliable, dependable, productive, efficient, and replaceable."

"It’s always the artists, by the way, I think. The artists, and the entertainers, and the writers, and the musicians whose job it is to prepare society, to become a comfortable way for changes that otherwise would be too frightening."

"The point of the 20th century, you can argue, is to get us to accept knowledge, processing, and reality on screens."

"To me, a computer is a thought processor."

Intravenous THC ???

"I've uploaded a fascinating video clip where a TV presenter is intravenously injected with the active ingredients of cannabis as part of the BBC documentary 'Should I Smoke Dope?'.
It's part of an experiment to compare the effects of intravenous THC and cannabidiol combined, with intravenous THC on its own. The mix of both gives the presenter a pleasant giggly high while THC on its own causes her to become desolate and paranoid.

Both are these are known to be key psychoactive ingredients in cannabis but the video is interesting as it is a reflection of the fact that THC has been most linked to an increased risk of developing psychosis while cannabidiol seems to have an antipsychotic effect."

More On Doc Ellis

Photobucket

You may have heard about "no-hitter" that Bob Milacki's of the Oakland A's pitched last week. No-hitters are pretty rare and this one made the news everywhere. One of the local TV stations refered to it as Milacki's "no-no," a term that originated with Dock Ellis's no-hitter back on June 12th, 1970 for the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Dock pitched that game on acid. Reportedly he wrote about the experience in his authobiography (Dock Ellis in the Country of Baseball) published in 1976. Here are some interesting excerpts from an account of the game in the August 1987 issue of High Times magazine and from a Lysergic World article from 1993.

"Dock woke up late. Why shouldn't he? As far as he knew, the team had an off day and he planned to take full advantage of it. Three hits of LSD were ready and waiting in the refrigerator."

"A few minutes later, his girlfriend returned with coffee, donuts, and the morning paper. At noon, they dropped acid. Dock put on a record, while his girlfriend read the paper."

"Dock, it says here you're pitching today!"

"Whaaaa...? said Dock groggily. He snatched the paper, scanned the box scores, and read:

PITTSBURGH AT PADRES
DOUBLEHEADER
(6 P.M.) - Ellis (4-4) vs.
Roberts (3-3)
(LW, 1993)

"That's when it was $9.50 to fly to San Diego. She got me to the airport at 3:30. I got there at 4:30, and the game started at 6:05pm. It was a twi-night doubleheader. (HT, 1987)

He makes it to the game and after having someone help him find his locker, he suits up and enters the game.

"Dave Roberts, the Padres' pitcher, had an easy first inning, ending with Roberto Clemente hitting one back to the box. Dock marched to the mound, wondering if he'd last the inning. (LW, 1993)

"His fingers tingled as he squeezed the ball. He squinted to see catcher Jerry May's hand signals. He nodded his head and went into his windup, falling slightly off balance in the process. The ball hit the ground about two feet in front of the plate and skipped into May's glove.

"May signaled for a fastball outside. Dock wound up and threw a hot one over the the corner of the plate - a swinging strike! In was no ordinary pitch: The ball burst from Dock's hand and left a blazing, cometlike tail that remained visible long after the ball was caught.

"Dock felt wobbly on the mound and his stomach was churning with acid cramps. His concentration, however, was superb. As long as he kept to his fastball, the comets kept burning across the plate. All he had to do was steer the ball down the multicolored path. Dock had a crazed look in his eyes and his lack of control was evident to the batters, many of whom were feeling increasingly vulnerable in the batter's box. Dock easily retired three batters in a row [in the second inning]. (HT, 1987)

Photobucket

"I can only remember bits and pieces of the game. I was psyched. I had a feeling of euphoria."

I was zeroed in on the (catcher's) glove, but I didn't hit the glove too much. I remember hitting a couple of batters and the bases were loaded two or three times. The ball was small sometimes, the ball was large sometimes, sometimes I saw the catcher, sometimes I didn't. Sometimes I tried to stare the hitter down and throw while I was looking at him. I chewed my gum until it turned to powder. They say I had about three to four fielding chances. I remember diving out of the way of a ball I thought was a line drive. I jumped, but the ball wasn't hit hard and never reached me." (LW, 1993)
The seventh inning:

"The Pirates were clinging to their 1-0 lead. Dock was staring at the scoreboard when he realized he'd pitched hitless ball for seven innings. He smacked Cash on the arm.

"Hey, look," said Dock, pointing at the scoreboard. "I've got a no-no going!"

Cash gave him a blank look. "A no-no?" asked Cash. He'd never heard the term before. But Cash wanted to keep the pitcher loose and happy, so he smiled and said nothing.

Doc Ellis went on to finished the game without a hit. The Pirates won the game, 2-0, despite Ellis walking eight batters. Dock had a pretty good year in 1970. He went 13-10, and helped the Pirates win their first of three divisional championships.

Taking shrooms has long-term benefits

Making the rounds today on the AP is a story about the amazing new study that shows magic mushrooms may actually be good for you:

"Scientists reported Tuesday that when they surveyed volunteers 14 months after they took [psilocybin], most said they were still feeling and behaving better because of the experience.
Two-thirds of them also said the drug had produced one of the five most spiritually significant experiences they'd ever had."

The study was done by Roland Griffiths of Johns Hopkins, and the news wires are going to be flush with anecdotes of people claiming that taking magic mushrooms is one of the most wonderful things they've ever done. This is science people. If you don't catch this headline in the mainstream you probably aren't looking.
